Overview
Our Resilience by Design training equips architects, engineers, and planners with skills and practical tools to integrate future climate data into the design process — better protecting the health, safety, and welfare of building owners, operators, and the public.
This course is co-delivered in collaboration with architecture and engineering professionals from the national design firm HGA.
This course is for those who are involved with designing and constructing buildings and their surrounding landscapes. That includes architects, engineers, planners, landscape and interior designers, contractors, and other related roles.
A typical program consists of a two-hour virtual session, followed by a one-day (seven-hour) in-person workshop. In some cases, this course can be adjusted to fit alternative time constraints.
Participants will get hands-on experience applying climate data and evaluating adaptation and design strategies in different types of building projects, walking away with concrete strategies for making their building or landscape design more climate resilient. The resilient design process and course resources can be applied to future projects to help safeguard building users, owners, and operators against climate hazards. Course participants can receive 9 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Health Safety and Welfare Learning Units.
The cost for the program is $225 per person. The program fee includes AIA learning units, a set of Resilience by Design strategy cards, lunch and other course materials.
If cost is a barrier to participating in the program or if you’re interested in a group discount for your organization, please contact Kristen Schmitt.
