Extension Educator- Climate Adaptation & Resilience Decisions
We are looking for a dedicated individual who possesses the expertise and hands-on experience to help communities across Minnesota and the Midwest in planning and implementing climate resilience strategies to manage climate change challenges like increased flood risks, extreme heat, and poor air quality. This will include serving as a trusted expert and educator capable of collaborating closely with a transdisciplinary Climate Extension team to develop and deliver educational training and resources. This person will provide hands-on education and technical support to assist communities across Minnesota in understanding climate risks and comparing, selecting, and implementing different resilience strategies while working with a wide range of partners. Applied Climate Scientist - St. Paul, MN
We are seeking a full-time applied climate scientist to draw on a range of weather and climate data to connect how the climate is changing with hazards and impacts on natural and agricultural systems, the built environment, and human health. The scientist will work with our team to co-produce climate data analyses, decision-support tools, and research syntheses, and engage with partners to inform the planning and implementation of climate resilience strategies in Minnesota and the Midwest region. The scientist will be integral to developing tailored information and resources to help research and Extension colleagues engage with a variety of partners and to collaboratively create, deliver, and evaluate MCAP-led climate services programming related to the management and use of weather and climate data. Graduate Research Assistant - St. Paul, MN
We are looking for two motivated summer graduate research assistants to engage with the project team and work with Extension educators to develop educational products based on climate analogs. The Climate Analogs Academy is a USDA NIFA Project that aims to empower U.S. Extension professionals to lead regional climate change adaptation in specialty crops. Exploring climate analogs allows researchers and educators to understand and teach others about potential impacts by studying existing conditions in a similar climate zone today. Graduate assistants will receive professional development training, including guidance on preparing job applications and interviewing, as part of their assistantship. They will work closely with Dr. Nathan Meyer and a collaborative team from the University of Minnesota and across the country to perform project-related roles. These positions are part-time (20 hr/week) remote and paid, with office space available at the University of Minnesota St Paul campus. Application reviews will begin on February 24, 2025. Applied Research Hydrologist - St. Paul, MN
We are hiring a full-time applied research hydrologist with a focus on hydrologic variability and change in the Midwestern region of the U.S. The applied research hydrologist will work with the MCAP team to co-produce applied research, synthesize literature, and engage with partners on climate impacts and adaptation related to hydrologic variability and change. We are looking for a candidate with expertise in water resources management and training in applied social or natural sciences, engineering, planning, or a related field. Candidates should have familiarity with topics such as climate resilience, water management, and adaptation strategies. The researcher will work at the boundary of scientific research and application by integrating future climate projections with hydrologic models to inform water resources management and decision making. This will include running hydrological models, publishing research in peer-reviewed journals, and collaborating with a growing team of climate researchers and Extension personnel to bring MCAP-generated research into practice. Open until filled. Learn more.
