A framework for resilient infrastructure policymaking

Project Summary

We are working to compile the latest research on projected climate impacts — like droughts, higher temperatures, and flooding — and how those impacts could affect the built environment, water, resources, and forestry and food systems across Minnesota. The findings will inform infrastructure design practices to enhance energy efficiency, utilize innovative materials, and integrate renewable energy, while also protecting structures from extreme weather events like intense rainfall and tornadoes. Our study also looks at how these changes might affect natural systems, which might require us to rethink infrastructure to ensure the sustainability of our food systems, reduce fire risks in forests, and protect water quality and wildlife habitats.
