2025: Creative Climate Communications
For nearly four years, Karen Wright has been hosting a weekly program called “Every Day is Earth Day” on the independent public radio station KMSU in Mankato. Karen covers a wide array of environmental topics, including climate change and resilience, regenerative agriculture, climate justice, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Her interviews and discussions reach not only the Mankato community, but listeners across the state and country through the station’s streaming app and the program’s podcast. Many of the segments connect listeners with relevant regional events and programs, building community and fostering a network of local action. Karen is also involved in resilience work outside of the radio station — she serves on a lake association water quality committee and Board of the Lake Washington Improvement Association, educates the public on organic and native plantings in her role as a master gardener volunteer, and participates in other local conservation efforts.
