2022 Public Health Law Summit

Climate Change and Health Equity

October 12 - 14, 2022

The 2022 Climate Change and Health Equity Summit will bring together health departments, health care providers, and community-based organizations and others who are working with communities to achieve health equity and develop climate solutions that are centered in a health equity framework. Engage with others to build a shared understanding of how public health law can and should make our communities healthier and help mitigate climate change.

MCAP Director, Dr. Heidi Roop, will give a talk on observed and expected climate impacts in the Midwest and Minnesota and highlight actions already underway across the region to prepare for climate change during this event to launch the Climate Change Community Engagement Toolkit Training for Master Gardener Volunteers.

New Planning Grants for Climate Resilience

November 18, 2021

Up to $870,000 is available for planning projects to be awarded during FY22. This funding provides an opportunity for communities to assess vulnerabilities and begin planning for the effects of Minnesota’s changing climate.


Climate Adaptation Scientists of Tomorrow Program

To advance climate adaptation science and increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM fields, the Climate Adaptation Scientists of Tomorrow Program brings undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty together with CASC partners to cultivate the next generation of climate scientists. 


New Midwest Climate Center to be hosted at the University of Minnesota

October 11, 2021

In late September, the U.S. Department of the Interior announced the University of Minnesota as the University host of the newest U.S. Geological Survey Climate Adaptation Science Center (CASC). It is the ninth and newest CASC in a national network dedicated to providing science to help managers of the country’s natural resources, including fish and wildlife, adapt to climate change.
