Working Toward Resilience in Health

Adverse effects of climate change – such as extreme weather, vector-borne diseases, and air pollution – present a rising threat to our physical and mental health.

Climate change impacts public health by intensifying existing threats, exposing communities to more hazardous weather conditions, exacerbating acute and chronic diseases, and creating novel health concerns. Risks are substantially higher for front line and rural communities that have limited access to health care and prevention strategies. We are working with community members, organizations, and health and emergency planning professionals to implement holistic, coordinated, community-centered emergency preparedness and climate adaptation approaches to achieve proactive, long-term exposure and risk reduction.
