International report confirms record-high greenhouse gases, sea levels

The "State of the Climate 2020", the authoritative summary on global climate by the American Meteorological Society, was published on August 8, 2020. The 2020 summary is the 31st of these annual reports, and it was created with the input from 530 scientists across 60 countries and tens of thousands of measurements.

Some of the report's highlights include:
1. CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere where the highest ever recorded. Concentrations rose in 2020 even though the global economy slowed down because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Global temperatures in 2020 were about 1 degree Fahrenheit warmer than the 1981-2010 average.

3. Global sea levels rose for the ninth consecutive year. Sea levels are now 3.6 inches higher than in 1993, when satellite measurements began.
