2007 Climatological Summary for INTERNATIONAL FALLS

2007 featured near normal temperatures and slightly above normal precipitation 
at International Falls. While January was nearly 7 degrees above normal, February 
was quite cold and more than 8 degrees below normal. Temperatures were rather 
variable throughout the remainder of the year. Precipitation was generally 
close to normal, with the greatest departure from normal in August, with a 
monthly rainfall of just 1.18 inches (1.96 inches below normal). Despite a very 
snowy December with 23.8 inches of snowfall (the 5th highest ever observed for 
the month), total yearly snowfall was below normal with 60.0 inches (normal is 
70.0 inches).

The average daily maximum temperature was 48.8 degrees, while the average daily 
minimum temperature was 26.8 degrees, resulting in an average temperature for 
the year of 37.8 degrees (normal is 37.6 degrees).

The warmest temperature observed in 2007 at International Falls was 92 degrees 
on July 24. The coldest reading was -32 on February 5. The temperature dipped 
below freezing on 192 days and remained below freezing on 113 days. 62 days 
dropped to 0 or below.

The 2007 total precipitation was 24.96 inches; slightly above the normal amount 
of 23.93 inches. Measurable precipitation was observed on 135 days. More than 
an inch of precipitation was observed on 4 days.

Although above normal for the months of November and December, total annual 
snowfall in 2007 was below normal, largely due to a lack of snowfall in the 
beginning of the year.

Total liquid equivalent of snowfall in 2007 was 2.99 inches, producing a snow to 
liquid ratio of nearly 20 to 1. Snow fell on 94 days, including 23 days with 
amounts of 1.0 inch or greater.
