Drought Monitor Map

The U. S. Drought Monitor, released on April 17, places portions of the southern one-half of Minnesota in the Moderate Drought category. This week's map depicts 18 percent of Minnesota's landscape as experiencing Moderate Drought. The drought areas are the result of late-summer and early-autumn rainfall shortfalls in 2013 (maps below), along with record-breaking heat in late August.
