Record Setting Cold -  June 5, 2000

Cloudless, dry high pressure overnight allowed rapid surface heat loss, producing some record-tying and record setting lows in parts of Minnesota.

From preliminary data, all of the temperatures from this morning reported below go into the record books for June 5th....these may have caused some problems for strawberry and blueberry growers among others....

Cambridge 28 F
Little Falls 34 F
Staples 36 F
Orr 30 F
Two Harbors 33 F
Aiktin 30 F
Ely 30 F
Embarrass 24 F

Coldest temperature ever recorded on June 5th in Minnesota was 18 F at Remer (Cass County) in 1985. Coldest this morning was Tower at 22 F
